Dermal Fillers

A type of nonsurgical cosmetic procedure. Dermal fillers plump up wrinkles, smooth lines and restore volume in the face.

It can enhance facial features or gather a more youthful appearance. This elective treatment usually takes less than half an hour and recovery time is minimal.

Why Use Dermal Fillers?

As we age, the body starts to lose collagen. Collagen is an important substance that exists all over the body, including in skin, muscles, bones and connective tissues. Decreased amounts of collagen in the skin causes skin laxity and loss of volume. Skin becomes thinner, loses elasticity and starts to sag.

Dermal fillers can help with:

  • Adding volume to sagging skin
  • Make facial features more symmetrical
  • Plump up lips and cheeks
  • Smooth wrinkles and creases

Types Of Dermal Fillers

  • Hyaluronic acid —> a naturally occurring acid in the skin. It gives the skin volume and keeps it hydrated. Restylane is a commonly used type of HA filler
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) —> a type of filler that consists of a substance you have in your bones. These are used for deeper wrinkles and acne scarring. Radiuses is a commonly used type of CaHA filler
  • Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) —> a substance that helps your body creates its own collagen. Used to smooth deep wrinkles on the face.
  • Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)
